Hockey Canada implemented a rule to see all rink sizes shrink by 50 percent to accommodate players 6 years and younger. The opportunity to play and practice in a smaller area boosts player development by maximising the number of puck touches, shots on goal, and the number of passes and/or battle for loose pucks.
